But for very large earthquakes, some magnitudes underestimate true earthquake size, and some underestimate the size. When initially developed, all magnitude scales based on measurements of the recorded waveform amplitudes were thought to be equivalent. Because of the logarithmic basis of the scale, each whole number increase in magnitude represents a tenfold increase in measured amplitude as measured on a seismogram. For example, a magnitude 5.3 is a moderate earthquake, and a 6.3 is a strong earthquake. Magnitude is expressed in whole numbers and decimal fractions. See the Intensity section below for more details on shaking intensity measurements. The shaking that it causes has many values that vary from place to place based on distance, type of surface material, and other factors. Magnitude is the size of the earthquake. An earthquake has a single magnitude. Modern systems precisely amplify and record ground motion (typically at periods of between 0.1 and 100 seconds) as a function of time. Sensitive instruments, which greatly magnify these ground motions, can detect strong earthquakes from sources anywhere in the world. Each seismometer records the shaking of the ground directly beneath it. Seismometers record the vibrations from earthquakes that travel through the Earth. The time, location, and magnitude of an earthquake can be determined from the data recorded by seismometer.

zip file.Sketch of a traditional seismometer. Good website, check it out.Īll credits go to the original creators. Do not recommend unless you must have more. Rpgsmse: originally speedmapping maps, but given touch-ups. Retrojam4: Same as above like all the jams it is not in episodic format. Mixed quality, some great some not so great. MapJam6: a variety of maps NOT in episodic fashion. Unfortunately no music.Ĭontract Revoked: definitely worth playing, though it is only 3 levels.

Short but sweet.ĭMC3: Surprisingly good despite its deathmatch roots. However really quite good despite that, so gets a high rating. Some of the best id-like custom quake mapping you'll find.įuncJam2: NOT in episodic format which loses it some score. From what I can tell, it doesn't contain anything important.ĭota: the best custom episode I've found compatible with Q1.5 for its understanding of old school gameplay-oriented level design.ĬimmerianNight: fantastic but sadly short (3 maps) mini-episode. I do not recommend copying that over as it will override your Quake 1.5 configuration. Special note: in the case of qblack.zip, there is a config file within.

Example: if you were to install contract revoked pack, your bat file should be: darkplaces.exe -game quake15 -game contract Simply add the map pack's game command afterwards. You will see: darkplaces.exe -game quake15 If there is a pak file in the map pack zip archive:ĭo as the mod's readme instructs, but when it instructs you to use the -game command, Right click 'Run Quake 1.5.bat' file and select Edit. Alternatively use the backspace key in-game to access all maps in your map folder easily. \quake\quake15\maps (create the folder if it doesn't exist) and run them with the command 'map mapname', ensuring to change mapname to whatever the starting map is in the respective map pack (usually numbered). If there is only map files in the map pack's zip archive: There is yet to be one made which is just wrong. If you are a level designer and have interest in mapping specifically for Q1.5/combat+ also let me know. If you know any worthwhile episodic content compatible with Q1.5 not in this compilation let me know and I'll add it. Is Quake stylistically & thematically (e.g no realism or meme mods). Episodic format in continuous fashion (ideally), rather than a hub you select one map at a time. Of acceptable quality: Gameplay focused, good enemy placement, testing level design, good resource distribution etc. Compatible with Q1.5 and my Combat+ add-on for Q1.5.

My criteria for including them was as follows: This is Quake 1.5 Compatible Custom Episodes Pack (Q1.5 CCEP), a selection of 10 worthwhile fan-made episodes you can play with Quake 1.5. Quake 1.5 is great, however there's a nagging issue should you want more and that is incompatibility finding custom episodes of good quality compatible with Quake 1.5 is not easy.
